Am I the only one who notices that the old roof flaps are useless when combined with this new "Wing"?

Cali, no you are not the only one.  I was gonna mention this very thing. In fact, since I think that your hubby and you must be connected with someone in racing, I was gonna have you ask some of them about that.  Don has been harping about that wing that for some time now.  In fact, soon as Ryan started endo-ing, he (Don) blurted out: "That ~`@*#*#* wing caused that end over end roll" and went on to say the roof flaps may come up but they are useless with the wing.

Wow I didnt hear that sound bite from Ryan. A friend of mine in the automotive industry says *nascrap* (my word not his) needs to make that wing some how collapsible, so the air has a chance to get to the flaps. I dont know but clearly what they have now doesnt work.  I expect Jack Roush to come up with something and make a fortune...stay tunned.

Cali, my error in the typing.  Don made that remark, not Ryan.  Sorry for the confusion.  I just worded it wrong.  Must have assumed you and everyone would know it came from Don...Sorry.  I went back in and edited it.

From what I've heard from some experts, the wing, once it gets turned, act like a wing, producing lift instead of downforce, thus propelling the car into the air.  Mark Martin's car didn't even get backwards.  It still went airborn.

The COT still makes me think of the old saw about an elephant being a mouse designed by committee.  The law of unintended consequences seems to have hit this 'brilliant' idea big time.  It wiped out the last vestige of manufacturer identity from the cars, blocks the view of drivers so they can't see thru the cars, and has magnified the aero problems of the old car.  Meanwhile, the 'certification' process that Nascar requires for the chassis isn't exactly free.  Puts some nice extra change in their pocket.
